Location

The Ulukışla region, due to its location, is a strategic junction point that can easily access 3 different transportation possibilities. Variation in transportation opportunities provides significant economic, social, and environmental contributions to the Industrial Zone.

Trade Routes

The Ulukışla region, besides offering various transportation options, is also situated along many historical trade networks. It benefits from trade routes such as the Maritime Silk Road, the Ancient Silk Road, and the Spice Route.

Maritime Routes

Looking at maritime transportation, the Mersin Port, where more than twenty percent of Turkey's total import and export take place, is just seventy minutes away. The Mersin Port, the region's sole international exit, serves over 25 industrial zones. Trade with Russia has increased by 42 percent recently, leveraging global issues into financial advantages. Currently with a capacity of 2.4 million TEUs, plans are underway to increase this capacity to 3.6 TEUs.

Air Routes

In terms of airport potential, the region has access to 4 different airports within a 200-kilometer radius. In addition to the 4 airports reachable within an average of one and a half hours, the planned Çukurova Regional Airport will further enhance the region's logistics capabilities.

Land and Railways

In terms of highways, the Ulukışla region includes the Ulukışla D750-D850 highways adjacent to the Ankara-Tarsus line. Additionally, recent investments have been made in the Aksaray-Ulukışla-Yenice High Standard Railway project, planned as an extension of the Istanbul-Ankara High-Speed Train Line to Karaman, to be constructed between 2020-2025.

The Ulukışla-Bogazköprü railway has been of great importance for freight and passenger transportation since the early years of the Republic for the country's railway network. Moreover, the planned high-standard railway aims to reach the south, Mersin, and Adana after the Ulukışla station, providing access to the Southeast Anatolia Region via these stations. With the completion of this project, Ulukışla will become one of the 3 stations in the country with direct railway access to all four directions. The Ulukışla region is also close to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline, which creates opportunities for various sectors.
